Pionix to supply EVerest open-source software stack for Tritium DC fast chargers

EV charging software firm Pionix will provide its EVerest open-source software stack to DC fast charging hardware manufacturer Tritium, with first chargers running the EVerest-based software on track for delivery to customers in summer 2026. EVerest offers a modular software architecture separating hardware drivers from application logic, with key charging protocols already implemented and tested, including OCPP compliance certification through other vendor integrations and Plug and Charge pre-certification as a stack through Hubject. Tritium is adopting EVerest to focus internal engineering on hardware development, field reliability and customer-specific integrations while building on an open-source software foundation for charging protocols and interoperability.
Why it matters: The partnership signals a shift in the DC fast charging supply chain, with hardware manufacturers outsourcing protocol software to open-source platforms, potentially accelerating interoperability and reducing certification timelines for CPOs procuring Tritium units. Pre-certified OCPP and Plug and Charge capabilities through EVerest may lower integration risk and speed deployment for fleet and public charging operators.
