China targets charging network for 110 million EVs by 2030 under new power plan

China's 15th Five Year Plan (2026 to 2030) for power system construction sets a goal of building a nationwide charging infrastructure network capable of supporting more than 110 million electric vehicles by the end of the decade. The plan, discussed by experts from Xiamen University and the China Electricity Council in the National Business Daily, also targets 50 percent nonfossil energy in total electricity generation by 2030 and consumption of more than 2.8 billion kilowatts of new energy. The development of electricity spot, capacity and ancillary services markets is expected to accelerate during this period.
