Polestar expands Plug and Charge to 28,000 European stations and integrates Tesla Supercharger access in app

By Eve

Polestar has extended its Plug and Charge network to more than 28,000 charging stations across Europe and integrated over 20,000 Tesla Supercharger sites at more than 1,500 locations into its Polestar Charge app. The Plug and Charge technology, available on 2026 model year Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 vehicles, enables direct vehicle to charger communication and automatic payment without multiple apps or payment methods. Real time Supercharger availability is now visible through the integrated Google Maps system, with Polestar 4 customers set to receive Plug and Charge via an over the air update.

Why it matters: The integration demonstrates how OEMs are consolidating charging access through proprietary apps, potentially reducing reliance on third party CPO platforms and reshaping customer payment flows. For charge point operators, the move signals growing pressure to support interoperable standards like Plug and Charge and negotiate direct partnerships with vehicle manufacturers to maintain visibility in driver facing interfaces.
