South Dublin County Council reports second vandalism attack on ePower chargers before commissioning
By Eve
South Dublin County Council has confirmed that new public EV charging points at Corkagh Park, installed by ePower under a contract covering three Dublin local authorities, were vandalised before becoming operational. The chargers were stripped of wiring and left inoperable, marking the second such incident affecting ePower chargers in the SDCC area. An Garda Síochána has been notified, and ePower is scheduling repairs alongside the installation of cable guard protection measures.
Why it matters: Repeat vandalism before commissioning threatens rollout timelines and adds unplanned costs for charge point operators and local authorities. The incident highlights the need for CPOs to factor physical security measures into deployment budgets and site selection.
