RoadGrid wins ₹13 crore government grant to build universal EV charger factory in India

By Eve

RoadGrid India has secured ₹13 crore from the Technology Development Board under India's Department of Science and Technology to complete a ₹27.5 crore project building a manufacturing facility for its patented Universal EV Charger. The plant will produce 2,000 units annually from March 2027, with each charger integrating a 140 kW dual DC system supporting CCS2 and Type 6 connectors plus AC charging across two wheelers, three wheelers, passenger and commercial vehicles. The project includes ₹18 crore for manufacturing infrastructure and will create over 100 direct jobs.

Why it matters: A single interoperable platform serving multiple vehicle segments could simplify procurement and reduce site complexity for charge point operators deploying mixed fleets. Government backed local manufacturing also signals potential cost advantages and supply chain resilience for Indian infrastructure tenders from 2027.
