Rajasthan opens EOI for EV charging stations with 80 per cent upstream subsidy under PM E-DRIVE

Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited has invited Expressions of Interest for Electric Vehicle Public Charging Stations under Category C of the PM E-DRIVE Scheme. The Ministry of Heavy Industries programme offers Charge Point Operators financial support covering up to 80 per cent of upstream infrastructure costs, including transformers, switchgear, panels, cabling and civil works, though charger equipment receives no subsidy. Eligible operators must have at least 10 public fast charging stations of minimum 30 kilowatt capacity operational in India for six months and operate a Central Management System.
Why it matters: The scheme lowers capital barriers for experienced CPOs expanding into Rajasthan by subsidising grid connection costs, the single largest non-charger expense in greenfield deployments. The six month operational track record and 10 station threshold filters for proven operators, signalling a procurement preference for scale and reliability over new entrants.
