Seattle to install 200 curbside EV chargers by 2030 with resident request system

By Eve

Seattle City Light and the Seattle Department of Transportation will deploy up to 200 public curbside Level 2 charging stations by 2030, targeting neighbourhoods with limited charging access where over half of homes are apartments or condos. The rollout follows a 2023 to 2024 pilot at 31 locations and is funded by a 2024 voter approved transportation levy, with residents able to request installations through an application system open until autumn 2027. City Light currently charges $0.21 per kilowatt hour at Level 2 chargers, with the stations adding 12 to 30 miles of range per hour depending on vehicle and equipment.

Why it matters

The resident request model and multi year application window offer a demand led approach to curbside charging deployment that could inform similar municipal programmes. The pilot validation and dedicated levy funding provide a replicable framework for cities planning residential charging infrastructure at scale.

Servotech launches 360 kW Dynamix360 and dual gun Nexus120 fast chargers with advertising displays at REI Expo

Servotech Renewable Power System Limited unveiled two commercial fast chargers at the Renewable Energy India Expo 2026. The Dynamix360 is a 360 kW split type DC fast charger with a central power stack serving up to four dispensers, each with a 15 inch touchscreen and IP65 rating. The Nexus120 is a dual gun smart charger with a 43 inch LED display and IP55 rating. Both models feature integrated digital displays designed for advertising in commercial locations such as business parks and shopping malls.

Why it matters

The addition of advertising displays to high power chargers creates a new revenue stream for CPOs deploying in high footfall commercial sites, potentially improving project economics. The Dynamix360's power sharing architecture across four dispensers offers flexible capacity deployment for operators planning large commercial installations.

Cyprus to deploy 94 fast chargers across 13 sites by 2028 under €10m programme

Cyprus's Transport Ministry will install 94 fast charging points by 2028 at an estimated cost of €10 million, covering the entire road network. The rollout includes 76 points for light vehicles (150 kW each) and 18 for heavy vehicles (12 at 350 kW, six at 200 kW), spread across 13 sites including Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol and ten other locations. Minister Evanthia Tsolaki confirmed 16 light vehicle points are scheduled for 2026, 48 light and 12 heavy points in 2027, with the remainder in 2028, adding to the existing 384 publicly accessible points at 221 stations nationwide.

Why it matters

The phased procurement offers equipment suppliers and installers a clear pipeline through 2028, with budget already secured for 2026 and 2027 phases via the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department. The mix of 150 kW, 200 kW and 350 kW chargers signals demand for both light and heavy duty hardware, while the island wide site selection may favour bidders with logistics reach beyond the three main urban centres.

Bidfood installs UK's first overhead charging gantry at Slough depot with four bays and 600kW Kempower charger

Bidfood has opened a four bay overhead charging gantry at its Slough depot, believed to be the first of its kind at a UK commercial transport depot. Unveiled on 20 October, the infrastructure uses a 600kW Kempower charger to power four charging points and was delivered by Erinion, part of the Scania group, with support from the Government's Depot Charging Scheme. The cantilevered overhead design allowed installation without losing parking spaces or disrupting operations, and the system is scalable for future fleet expansion.

Why it matters

The overhead gantry design offers a space efficient depot charging solution that avoids operational disruption, a key consideration for commercial fleet operators planning electrification. The project demonstrates how government grant schemes and specialist infrastructure partners can enable innovative charging deployments at scale for heavy goods vehicle fleets.
