STV wins design contract for River Valley Transit electric bus maintenance facility in Middletown, Connecticut
By Eve
The Connecticut Department of Transportation has appointed New York based STV to design a new electric bus maintenance and administration facility for River Valley Transit in Middletown. The facility will support the agency's transition to a zero emission bus fleet serving 16 communities in central Connecticut and will include a maintenance bay for four full size buses, plug in charging stations, in ground two post vehicle lifts, a bus wash, fare collection area and administrative offices. STV will work with the state DOT and River Valley Transit to develop the layout, operational requirements and capacity for future fleet expansion.
Why it matters: The contract signals active procurement for purpose built EV bus infrastructure in Connecticut's public transport sector, with design work now under way for a facility that will enable fleet electrification across 16 communities. For charging providers and construction firms, the project offers a near term opportunity as the design phase moves toward build out and equipment specification.
