Tesla adds 16-inch screen and vehicle-to-load to Model 3 in China only

By Eve

Tesla has upgraded its Model 3 for the Chinese market with a 16-inch centre display (up from 15.4 inches), a light-grey interior option, and vehicle-to-load capability supplying up to 2.2 kilowatts of AC output. The V2L feature extends to all Model 3 and Model Y variants in China, though most require a separate adapter. Tesla has not announced plans to roll out these upgrades in North America or Europe, according to Carscoops.

Why it matters

The addition of V2L to Tesla's China fleet signals growing market demand for bidirectional charging, a feature increasingly relevant to fleet operators and site managers exploring vehicle-to-grid or backup power applications. Regional hardware divergence may influence procurement decisions for multinational fleets and highlight competitive pressure in markets where V2L is becoming standard.

Tesla and Pilot deploy over a dozen Megacharger stations for Semi trucks across US freight corridors

Pilot Travel Centers and Tesla are building more than a dozen megawatt charging stations for Tesla Semi trucks along major US freight routes, with the first site already operational in Ellabell, Georgia. Each station will feature four to eight Megachargers capable of delivering up to 1.2 megawatts per stall, located at Pilot sites along I-5, I-10 and other corridors in California, Indiana, Nevada and Texas. The Ellabell station has six stalls, while a separate Tesla Semi station in Conley, Georgia, has also been energised this week.

Why it matters

This rollout demonstrates how CPOs can secure anchor tenancy by co-locating high power charging infrastructure at established commercial vehicle rest stops, reducing range anxiety for fleet operators. The partnership between North America's largest travel centre network and Tesla establishes a template for scaling heavy duty charging along predictable freight routes.

Tesla and 12 operators oppose Australian rule allowing power distributors to own EV chargers

A coalition including Tesla, Evie Networks, AGL Energy and Master Electricians Australia has written to oppose a draft rule by Australia's energy market regulator that would permit power distribution networks such as Ausgrid and CitiPower to install and operate public EV chargers, with costs passed to consumers via electricity bills. The initial trial covers 14,000 curbside chargers. The coalition supports EV infrastructure but rejects network ownership funded through bills, arguing the regulator has not established the case for this model.

Why it matters

The rule change could reshape Australia's charging market by allowing regulated utilities to compete directly with private operators, potentially altering procurement dynamics and funding structures. For CPOs and contractors, network ownership may limit commercial opportunities if infrastructure deployment shifts to monopoly distributors rather than competitive tender.

Tesla files permit for Semi service centre in Las Vegas as production ramps

Tesla has filed a building permit with Clark County, Nevada, for a dedicated Tesla Semi service centre at 3780 N Las Vegas Boulevard, marking one of the first concrete steps in building the service network for its electric Class 8 truck, which entered volume production two weeks ago. The site is a tenant improvement in a new shell building within the LV Logistics One industrial development, with neighbouring facilities offering 152,256 square feet, 32 foot clear height and 20 dock high doors. The permit status is awaiting plans, indicating construction drawings have not yet been submitted.

Why it matters

The filing signals Tesla is moving beyond production to establish the aftermarket infrastructure required to support commercial fleet operators, a critical step for CPOs and logistics firms evaluating Semi adoption. Las Vegas sits on the I-15 corridor, positioning the facility to serve a major freight route as Tesla scales deployment.
