2027 Chevrolet Silverado EV gets more power in Trail Boss form and a factory NACS charging port across the range

By Eve

The 2027 Chevrolet Silverado EV Trail Boss with the Max Range battery pack now produces 750 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque, 25 hp more than the outgoing model, as reported by GM Authority. The maximum output is only available in Wide Open Watts mode, and Chevrolet has not said what the truck makes with it disabled. All 2027 Silverado EV trims now ship with a native Tesla-style NACS port, allowing access to Tesla Superchargers and other NACS-equipped chargers without an adapter, and pricing has also risen.

Why it matters

Factory NACS ports on all 2027 GM EVs, including this high-volume pickup, widen the share of vehicles that expect NACS connectors, which bears on connector mix and retrofit decisions for site planning and tenders. Operators should also note that drivers will no longer need adapters to use NACS-equipped chargers.

GM recalls more than 67,000 Cadillac and Chevy EVs over brake software defect

General Motors has recalled 67,380 vehicles in the United States, according to a letter sent to the NHTSA on October 29. The defect is in the brake system control module software, where the slip calculation can misread wheel movement and cause a temporary loss of braking if a driver lightly taps the brakes in a sharp turn and the vehicle hits a bump. It affects only pAWD versions of the Cadillac Lyriq, Celestiq and Vistiq and the Chevy Blazer EV, and GM logged 24 field complaints, 20 involving minor accidents and two alleging minor injuries. GM says it has put software corrections into production over the past few months.

Why it matters

Operators of fleets or depots that include these pAWD models should check their recall exposure and any downtime from remedy work. A repeat of a 2024 style software issue also gives procurement teams a reason to ask OEMs about software validation and fix timelines.

Foodstuffs North Island names its first electric semi, a DeepWay Star, 'Evie' after a school competition

Foodstuffs North Island Limited has named its Chinese-built DeepWay Star electric semi 'Evie', chosen by Year 2 pupil Madison in a competition run with Russell Street School in Palmerston North. The truck began delivering chilled and frozen groceries across the lower North Island earlier this year, and the unveiling was attended by Mayor Grant Smith, local MP Tangi Utikeri and local PAK'nSAVE, New World and Four Square grocers. The report comes from a news article, and the excerpt provided gives no battery, range or charging figures.

Why it matters

Foodstuffs describes Evie as its first electric truck, a sign that a major New Zealand grocery supply chain is putting heavy electric trucks into regular chilled and frozen delivery work. For CPOs and procurement teams, that points to potential depot charging demand in the lower North Island, though the excerpt gives no detail on charging arrangements.

Aniioki A9 Pro Max review: dual motor e-bike with 6,000W peak power sits between bicycle and motorcycle

A review of the Aniioki A9 Pro Max describes a pedal-equipped machine with two 2,500W direct-drive hub motors, claimed at 3,000W peak each, giving 6,000W combined peak power, up to 250 Nm of combined torque and speeds of around 45 mph. It offers a 60V 70Ah pack at 4.2 kWh or a 60V 80Ah pack at 4.8 kWh, against roughly 500 Wh to 700 Wh on typical commuter e-bikes. The reviewer says it is not a street-legal electric bicycle in the US.

Why it matters

Packs of 4.2 kWh to 4.8 kWh put products like this closer to light electric motorcycles than to e-bikes, which could mean heavier charging demand per user and different expectations of charging points. The article offers no charging details, so any procurement relevance is indirect.
