BMW unveils 612 hp iX3 M60 xDrive with 754 km range, orders open January 2027

By Eve

BMW has announced the iX3 M60 xDrive, the most powerful variant of its Neue Klasse electric SUV, featuring dual motors producing 450 kW (612 hp) and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. The model offers up to 754 km of WLTP range with energy consumption of 17.6 to 20.5 kWh per 100 km. Orders for the high performance variant will open at the end of January 2027, according to BMW's announcement from Munich.

Why it matters

The extended range and efficiency figures signal evolving charging infrastructure demands as premium EVs push beyond 700 km between charges, potentially reducing the density of rapid charger networks required for long distance travel. Fleet operators and CPOs serving premium segments should note the vehicle's consumption profile when planning charger capacity and site layouts for 2027 onwards.

BMW iX7 three-row electric SUV spotted testing ahead of mid-2027 debut

BMW's first three-row electric SUV, the iX7, has been photographed testing at the Nürburgring in Germany, with an official launch expected in mid-2027. The full-size luxury model is anticipated to use a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain similar to the smaller iX5 60 xDrive, which delivers 578 hp and 593 lb-ft of torque, enabling 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. The iX5 is powered by a 144 kWh battery offering up to 435 miles of range and uses an 800V electrical system for fast charging.

Why it matters

The iX7's 800V architecture and 144 kWh battery capacity signal demand for high-power charging infrastructure capable of serving premium, long-range electric SUVs. CPOs and site hosts targeting luxury segments should prepare for vehicles requiring ultra-rapid charging to match the convenience expectations of three-row SUV buyers.

BMW India locally assembles 2026 i7 electric sedan, prices i7 50 xDrive at Rs 1.95 crore to match petrol 740

BMW has begun local assembly of the 2026 i7 facelift in India, pricing the i7 50 xDrive variant at Rs 1.95 crore, identical to the petrol 740 model. The company anticipates increased adoption of the electric version due to price parity with its combustion counterpart. The move reflects BMW's strategy to expand electric vehicle availability in the Indian market through local production.
