ubitricity secures 10 year solar PPA with Shell for UK charging network

By Eve

ubitricity, the UK's largest public EV charging network and a Shell subsidiary, has signed a 10 year Power Purchase Agreement to supply over 16 GWh of renewable solar energy annually to its network of more than 14,600 public charge points across the UK. The deal, announced on 3 July 2026, is expected to help stabilise energy costs across the network and directly support UK solar energy assets.

Why it matters: Long term renewable PPAs like this 10 year solar contract demonstrate how major charge point operators are locking in stable energy costs at scale, a procurement strategy that could influence pricing competitiveness and operational margins across the UK's 14,600 plus site network. The deal signals growing integration between EV charging infrastructure and domestic renewable generation assets.
