UL Solutions launches V2G certification programme for bidirectional EV chargers

US testing and certification company UL Solutions has launched a certification programme for vehicle to grid technologies, enabling testing and certification of bidirectional EV supply equipment under UL 1741 Supplement SC, the standard for inverters and interconnection equipment for distributed energy resources. Products certified under the programme can work with EVs using onboard bidirectional inverters designed to SAE J3072, and can also be certified for grid interconnection under new UL 1741 multipiece distributed energy resources requirements coupled with UL 9741, the standard for electric vehicle power export equipment. Testing and certification services are available at UL Solutions laboratories in Fremont, California and Northbrook, Illinois.
