Uttar Pradesh targets 1,000 new EV charging points to reach five fold expansion

By Eve

The Uttar Pradesh government plans to add 1,000 new EV charging points to its existing 238 operational facilities, aiming for a five fold increase in charging infrastructure. The state, currently ranked third in India for public EV charging infrastructure, concentrates existing stations around major highways, expressways and industrial corridors. Under the UP Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy 2022, the government offers capital subsidies to EV charging service providers for investments of ₹25 lakh or more.

Why it matters: The expansion creates significant procurement opportunities for charge point operators and equipment suppliers in India's most populous state. Capital subsidy support for investments above ₹25 lakh may accelerate private sector deployment along key transport corridors.
