BMW iX5 to skip Neue Klasse platform in favour of existing CLAR architecture

BMW has confirmed its upcoming iX5 electric SUV will not adopt the new Neue Klasse platform, instead using the existing CLAR architecture that underpins current combustion and electric models. The decision allows BMW to bring the iX5 to market sooner while the Neue Klasse platform, designed specifically for electric vehicles with improved efficiency and charging speeds, rolls out across other model lines from 2025 onwards.
