Volkswagen unveils ID.3 Neo hatchback with 391 mile range and physical controls
By Eve
Volkswagen has launched the ID.3 Neo, a revised compact electric hatchback offering up to 630 kilometres (391 miles) of range with its 79 kilowatt hour battery option. The model will be available in three trims and three power outputs (125 kW, 140 kW, and 170 kW), with smaller 50 kWh and 58 kWh batteries providing 417 km (259 miles) and 494 km (307 miles) respectively. The update includes a redesigned exterior with a full width LED light bar and conventional door handles, plus restored physical climate controls following customer feedback.
Why it matters: Extended range EVs like the ID.3 Neo reduce charging frequency requirements, potentially easing demand pressure on public charging networks during peak periods. The model's focus on everyday usability and familiar design may accelerate fleet adoption, influencing the scale and location planning of workplace and destination charging infrastructure.
