Alpitronic CEO calls for higher EV to charger ratio as firm dominates European fast charging market
By Eve
Philipp Senoner, CEO of Alpitronic, has urged policymakers to support a higher ratio of electric vehicles per charge point as the South Tyrol based manufacturer consolidates its position across Europe. Founded in 2009, Alpitronic has become a dominant supplier to major charge point operators, with its Hypercharger product particularly prominent in Germany through a partnership with EnBW. The all in one design eliminates the need for separate switchgear cabinets, offering advantages in charging hub construction, while the product has gained a reputation for high power output and reliability.
Why it matters: Alpitronic's market dominance signals a consolidation phase in DC fast charging hardware supply, with procurement teams at CPOs increasingly standardising on fewer vendors. The CEO's call for higher vehicle to charger ratios suggests the industry may be approaching a shift in infrastructure planning assumptions, potentially affecting future tender volumes and site density requirements.
