Mercedes-Benz unveils GLC L EV long-wheelbase electric SUV in China with 700 km range

Mercedes-Benz revealed the GLC L EV at Auto China 2026, featuring a 104 mm longer body and 55 mm extended wheelbase compared to the standard GLC EV, measuring 4,940 mm in length with a 3,020 mm wheelbase. The electric SUV is powered by an 89 kWh battery and dual-motor setup producing 416 bhp and 800 Nm of torque, offering up to 700 km of range. The model is launching in China with five-seater and six-seater configurations, with no confirmed plans for the Indian market despite analysis suggesting strong potential given India's preference for long-wheelbase luxury vehicles.
Why it matters: The GLC L EV's 700 km range and dual-motor AWD configuration could influence charging infrastructure planning in markets where long-wheelbase luxury EVs gain traction. If Mercedes-Benz expands this model beyond China, CPOs in India and similar markets may need to prepare for higher-power charging demand from premium SUV segments.
