Wisconsin awards 25 million dollars for 42 DC fast charging stations across 42 communities

Wisconsin's Department of Transportation is distributing 25 million dollars in federal NEVI funding to install 42 new DC fast charging stations in communities from Sturgeon Bay to Prairie du Chien. Each station must have at least four CCS ports delivering 150 kW simultaneously, adding a minimum of 168 fast charging ports statewide. Host sites include Kwik Trip forecourts, hotels, a Woodman's grocery store and other businesses, with chargers supplied by Autel, Gilbarco and Tesla.

Why it matters: The procurement completes Wisconsin's NEVI corridor buildout and shifts deployment onto US and state highways, opening opportunities for CPOs and equipment suppliers in smaller communities. With 93 per cent of existing Wisconsin chargers already offering NACS connectors, site hosts and installers will need dual standard hardware to meet driver expectations and maximise utilisation.
