Xpeng G9L three-row electric SUV to launch in Thailand on 11 November, with up to 591 km WLTP range
By Eve
Xpeng will launch the G9L, a six-seater electric SUV first revealed in China in August, in Thailand on 11 November, according to a 4 November 2026 report citing Autolifethailand. Global models get a 110 kWh NMC battery and an 800-volt architecture, with WLTP range of up to 591 km for the rear-wheel-drive version (367 PS) and 551 km for the all-wheel-drive version (585 PS). Units for Europe will be built by Magna Steyr in Austria, while ASEAN cars are expected to be exported from China, and Malaysia is widely expected to follow.
Why it matters
A large 800-volt EV arriving in Thailand, with Malaysia likely next, points to more high-voltage vehicles that can use faster DC charging across Southeast Asia. CPOs and procurement teams in these markets may want to check that new site specifications can support high-power, high-voltage charging.

Xpeng confirms European sales of L05 SUV, with Germany targeted for early 2027
Xpeng will sell the L05, launched in China as the Mona L05, in Europe, making it the third and largest model in its family after the M03 and L03. It is 4,870 mm long with a 2,940 mm wheelbase and a 702 litre boot, and starts at 144,800 yuan (about 19,400 euros) in China. European pricing, equipment and powertrain options will be revealed at the Brussels Motor Show from 8 to 17 January 2027, according to the report.
Why it matters
Another Chinese brand is widening its European line up, with Germany the first named market in early 2027. Charging specifications were not given in the report, so CPOs and procurement teams should watch the Brussels announcement for the powertrain mix and any charging capability details.
Volkswagen reportedly considers using Xpeng co-developed CEA architecture for up to 75% of next-generation European EVs
The VW Group is reportedly weighing the China Electric Architecture (CEA), co-developed with Xpeng through its JAC joint venture, to underpin up to 75% of next-generation electric vehicles from Volkswagen, Škoda and Cupra, with potential savings of up to nearly £4m. The software-defined platform, launched in February, is said to cut electronic control units by around 30% and development time by a further 30%. European and North American EVs currently use the MEB and MEB+ platforms, with future models expected to use underpinnings co-developed with Rivian, as reported in this article.
Why it matters
A shift to a China-developed architecture would change the vehicle hardware and software that European charging networks must work with, so CPOs and buyers should watch for any effect on charging compatibility and model rollout timing. It also signals how financial pressure on legacy makers is reshaping platform strategy, which could influence future EV volumes in Europe.

Vauxhall passes 100,000 UK battery electric vehicle sales
Vauxhall has sold 102,852 electric vehicles in the UK as of October 2026, with the 100,000th sale a Grandland Electric 213PS Ultimate delivered by Drive Vauxhall Nuneaton. The brand reached 10,000 EV sales in 2021 and 50,000 in 2023, a tenfold rise in customer demand, and the Mokka Electric (more than 26,000 sales) and Corsa Electric (more than 23,000) lead its range of eight electric models. The figures come from Vauxhall's milestone announcement, which also cites its 2023 Electric Streets of Britain campaign inviting drivers to register the need for on-street charging.
Why it matters
A mass-market brand with over 100,000 UK EVs on the road points to a growing base of drivers, many in mainstream segments, who will need public and on-street charging. For CPOs and local authority procurement teams, the Electric Streets of Britain campaign is a signal of registered demand for on-street provision.
