Next generation Renault Megane reportedly targets 748 km electric range and offers a range extender option

By Eve

Turkish press, citing digital renderings published by AutoExpress, reports that Renault is preparing a new Megane with a raised hatchback form and styling inspired by the new Clio. The all electric, four wheel drive version is said to offer about 748 km of range, while a range extender (REx) variant, in which a combustion engine acts as a generator, is said to reach 1,400 km in total. The platform is also reported to use cell to body battery integration, with the pack built into the vehicle floor structure, and the model is positioned against the Tesla Model Y.

Why it matters

A mid size Renault offering both a long range BEV and a range extender could widen the mix of vehicles using public and depot charging, and range extender drivers may charge less often at public points. The figures come from renderings and reports rather than confirmed specifications, so treat them as indicative until Renault confirms them.

BYD Atto 3 Evo compared with Renault Scenic E Tech as Renault updates its battery and range

A French-language comparison puts the facelifted BYD Atto 3 Evo, whose specification now matches its rivals, against the Renault Scenic E Tech. Between writing and publication, Renault presented an updated Scenic whose top version moves from an 87 kWh to an 89 kWh battery, with WLTP range rising from 625 to 642 km and consumption unchanged. The article says charging also differs on the new version, but the excerpt does not give the figures.

Why it matters

Two of the main compact electric SUV rivals in France are changing their specifications, and the Scenic's charging behaviour is changing with its battery. Procurement and CPO teams should watch for the detailed charging figures, as they affect how these vehicles use sites.

Tesla cuts Supercharger rates for non-Tesla EVs in Malaysia, with off-peak prices from RM1.26 per kWh

Tesla Malaysia has opened four Supercharger locations to non-Tesla vehicles since March 2026, initially at RM1.80 per kWh. Revised rates now undercut Gentari's network, which is typically priced at RM1.60 per kWh or higher during normal hours, and off-peak charging falls as low as RM1.26 per kWh. Pavilion KL and Gamuda Cove still use V3 Superchargers with shorter cables, while IOI City Mall and I-City have V4 units with longer cables.

Why it matters

Tesla is now pricing below Gentari on open access DC charging in Malaysia, which raises the pressure on CPOs competing on tariff. The cable length gap between V3 and V4 sites also shows that hardware details can shape the experience for non-Tesla drivers, not just price.

Tesla Australian sales fall to 4,050 in October, lowest since April

Electric Vehicle Council data shows Tesla sold 4,050 cars in Australia in October, down 28 per cent from 5,654 in September and well below 7,685 in August. The Model Y delivered 3,105 units, compared with 4,476 in September and 6,414 in August. The report attributes the dip to Tesla's quarterly delivery cycle tied to Shanghai shipments, with quiet first months of a quarter (501 in January, 1,225 in April) followed by surges (8,670 in June).

Why it matters

Tesla deliveries in Australia arrive in quarterly waves rather than steadily, so monthly sales figures can mislead when estimating new vehicle arrivals and charger demand. Procurement and CPO teams should read registration trends over a quarter, not month to month, when sizing network rollouts.
