York ranks third in UK for EV charging density with 83.1 public chargers per 100,000 residents

By Eve

York has been named the third most electric vehicle friendly city in the UK by E.ON UK, with 83.1 public EV chargers per 100,000 residents. The study evaluated fast charging stations, off street parking availability, and electricity costs. Local Volvo retailer Ray Chapman Motors York, which operates charging points at its Whiterose Close site, is supporting the city's EV transition through specialist advice and test drives.

Why it matters: The 83.1 chargers per 100,000 figure provides a benchmark for procurement teams assessing regional charging density and highlights York as a market where private sector retailers are complementing public infrastructure. The E.ON UK methodology offers CPOs a framework for evaluating city level EV readiness across charging access, parking, and energy costs.
