Australia's national science agency has launched a AU$3 million upgrade to its Renewable Energy Integration Facility in Newcastle, adding capabilities to test vehicle to grid technology, simulate microgrids and validate inverter performance under real world conditions. The facility can run large scale experiments combining solar, batteries and electric vehicles, with demonstrations showing EVs storing excess solar energy and returning power to the grid during peak periods.
