City & Guilds and Shell UK have trained 250 electricians in domestic EV charging point installation since January 2025 through a co-funded SkillsTransition programme. The initiative has been extended for a further 12 months to train an additional 250 electricians at four UK delivery partners, using Ofqual accredited qualifications designed with industry input. The programme aims to address the urgent need for skilled workers to support UK electric vehicle infrastructure targets.
Why it matters: A larger pool of certified EV charger installers directly expands the capacity of the UK domestic charging market, reducing installation bottlenecks for charge point operators and property developers.
