Motor Fuel Group has applied to Fylde Council for permission to install eight EV charging bays with canopy, substation and associated infrastructure at the Morrisons supermarket on Amy Johnson Way in Blackpool's Squires Gate area. The proposed hub would occupy approximately 0.13 hectares within the existing customer car park. No decision has yet been made on the application.
Why it matters: The scheme signals continued grocery retail investment in destination charging infrastructure, with Motor Fuel Group expanding its charging footprint beyond traditional forecourt sites. The eight bay configuration represents a mid scale hub that could inform procurement specifications for similar supermarket car park deployments.
