Multinational energy corporation Orlen has launched its first multi-bay fast-charging hub in Germany, featuring 16 400kW chargers on the A23 motorway near Hamburg with a solar PV canopy. The site follows Orlen's November 2025 launch of its first hub in Poland, part of a 12-site rollout under the EU co-financed Perun E-mobility project. Orlen's hubs feature six to 12 chargepoints with intelligent power sharing, targeting 20-minute charging times comparable to ICE refuelling stops.
Why it matters: The 16-bay Hamburg hub signals Orlen's expansion beyond its Polish home market and demonstrates the scale of multi-charger sites now entering procurement pipelines across Europe. The EU CEF Transport AFIF co-financing model for the Polish rollout offers a replicable funding structure for CPOs planning similar corridor infrastructure.
