Fiat Topolino electric quadricycle wins TIME Best Inventions 2026 design award
Fiat's Topolino, a two seat electric quadricycle priced from £8,995, has been named one of TIME's Best Inventions of 2026 in the Design category. The vehicle became Europe's best selling electric quadricycle in 2025 and has maintained that position through 2026, with particularly strong sales in Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland. It has been the top seller in France since July 2026, competing against the Citroen Ami which shares its underpinnings and is priced at £7,695.
Why it matters
The award and sales performance signal growing commercial acceptance of ultra low cost electric micromobility as a viable urban transport category, potentially opening procurement opportunities for city car sharing schemes and last mile delivery fleets seeking sub £9,000 electric options.
