Meghalaya notifies electric vehicle policy with purchase incentives and tax exemptions
The government of Meghalaya has notified the Meghalaya Electric Vehicle Policy, 2026, introducing purchase incentives, motor vehicle tax and registration fee exemptions, scrappage incentives, and charging infrastructure development measures. The state had approximately 6.53 lakh registered vehicles as of June 2026, including over 2,500 electric vehicles. The policy will remain in force for three years from the date of notification and supersedes the 2021 policy.
