Electric Miles and Charge-M8 link load balancing hardware to grid trading platform for commercial sites
Hardware maker Charge-M8 has integrated its Libra dynamic load balancing device with Electric Miles' emPACT charge point management system, now available to emPACT customers. The integration allows multi-charger commercial sites to earn recurring revenue by trading charging flexibility with the grid. Electric Miles' SmartFlex platform is integrated with all six UK distribution system operators and the National Energy System Operator, and also trades in wholesale markets.
Why it matters
The integration offers commercial site operators a new revenue stream beyond charging fees by monetising load flexibility through grid services. For CPOs and fleet operators, this could improve the business case for installing charging infrastructure at sites with variable building demand.
