Melaka has 195 public EV charging units across 95 locations and targets 300 by 2027
Melaka chief minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the state has 195 EV charging units across 95 locations, with another 10 units planned by the end of 2026, at a GWM Wey G9 HEV and Ora 5 HEV line-off ceremony in Pegoh, as reported by Paul Tan's site on 3 November 2026. The state's target was previously 350, and a May infographic from MyZEVA listed 105 chargers, implying about 90 additions in roughly six months, or about 15 a month. Nationally, Malaysia reached only 56% of its goal of 10,000 public chargers by end-2025, and a new goal of 30,000 by 2030 was announced in July 2026.
Why it matters
Melaka's pace of about 15 chargers a month shows a state-level buildout that is moving, though the lowered target of 300 and the national shortfall suggest delivery risk. CPOs and suppliers should watch for further procurement and site rollouts as states work towards the 30,000 by 2030 goal.
