EIM and Sorigin Green Mobility sign MoU to deploy 500 electric heavy trucks in India over two years
Energy In Motion Limited (EIM) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Sorigin Green Mobility Private Limited to deploy 500 electric heavy commercial vehicles across India over two years, focused on cargo-intensive freight corridors. EIM will supply its Ashwa 55-tonne electric tractors alongside charging infrastructure, battery-swapping networks and energy-management solutions, with an initial 18 vehicles starting immediately in the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority ecosystem. EIM Managing Director Narendra Murkumbi noted that Sorigin is an existing customer.
Why it matters
The bundling of charging, battery swapping and energy management with the vehicles shows heavy freight demand shaping infrastructure around utilisation, turnaround time and energy cost. Suppliers and CPOs serving port and corridor logistics should note that this is an MoU, with only 18 vehicles confirmed for immediate deployment.
