BYD has opened its first jointly operated Flash Charging hub with state-owned Sinopec at a converted petrol station in Shanghai, featuring 12 charging stalls, a rest area, and a convenience store. The partnership, announced in June 2024, aims to roll out similar conversions across other Sinopec stations, addressing the limited amenities at typical Chinese charging sites, which usually offer only vending machines and public toilets. BYD's PR manager Li Yunfei stated the hub will provide one-stop charging services, contrasting with overpriced and overcrowded highway service areas during peak travel.
