SABIC introduced two polyphenylene sulfide compound grades, LNP THERMOCOMP OFM76XXP and OFM76EXP, designed to insulate high voltage power modules in 800 V and higher traction inverters and fast chargers. The compounds carry a CTI rating of PLC 0, retain 90% of strength and insulation after 1,000 hours at 200°C, and meet UL94 V0 flame retardancy at 0.4 mm wall thickness. SABIC states the materials offer better dimensional stability and thermal shock resistance than PBT and PPA alternatives, supporting thinner, lighter components for densely packaged 800 V power electronics.

Why it matters: The compounds address material stress in 800 V charging infrastructure and inverter systems, where higher voltages and compact designs demand improved insulation performance. Specifiers procuring fast chargers or power electronics can evaluate these grades for modules requiring enhanced thermal endurance and tracking resistance.

Yokogawa Test & Measurement has released the WT1500, a four channel power analyzer that measures up to 2,000 V DC directly, removing the need for external high voltage dividers in test setups for electrified vehicles, energy storage and renewable power conversion. The 2U rack mount instrument offers total power accuracy of ±0.038% at DC and 50/60 Hz and supports two input element types: a High Voltage element for up to 2,000 V DC at 300 kHz and a Wide Bandwidth element for up to 1,000 V at 2 MHz. Yokogawa announced the product on 24 July 2026.

Why it matters: Direct high voltage measurement simplifies test bench configuration and reduces error for manufacturers validating EV charging hardware, power conversion systems and battery storage equipment. Hyundai Motor Group launched AllDayEnergy on 24 July 2026, a Vehicle to Everything energy services brand enabling compatible Kia and Hyundai electric vehicles to charge when electricity is cheap and sell stored power back to the grid. The service begins rolling out in the United Kingdom through the Kia App in the second half of 2026. AllDayEnergy is a software layer built on bidirectional charging hardware in E-GMP platform vehicles including the IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 9, offering three tiers starting with Smart Charging (V1G) that adjusts charging timing based on grid load and electricity prices using a standard smart wallbox.

Why it matters: The platform creates new demand for smart charging infrastructure and grid integration services, positioning vehicle batteries as distributed energy assets that require managed charging networks. For CPOs and installers, it signals growing OEM involvement in energy management software that sits between the vehicle and charging hardware, potentially reshaping procurement specifications for fleet and workplace installations.
