Kia's first electric van, the PV5 Cargo, has outsold established rivals from Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Ford, Peugeot, Citroën, Opel and Volkswagen to become the best selling battery electric small van in 12 European countries since going on sale. In the UK alone, Kia registered 3,239 PV5 Cargo vans and 1,141 Passenger models during the first seven months of 2026, making it the country's best selling electric van. Built on Kia's dedicated E-GMP.S platform, the purpose built EV offers 4.4 cubic metres of cargo space, room for two Euro pallets, a 419 millimetre loading sill and a 71.2 kWh battery pack in its long range version, reported New Mobility News in August 2026.
Why it matters: Fleet operators now have a proven alternative to legacy van conversions, with a purpose built electric platform delivering practical cargo capacity that has already captured significant market share from established commercial vehicle manufacturers.
