Walmart opens 100th company-owned EV fast-charging site in Colorado

Walmart has reached 100 company-owned and operated EV fast-charging locations across 20 US states, with the milestone site opening at its Monument, Colorado Supercenter. Most sites feature eight to 16 fast-charging connectors delivering up to 400 kilowatts, supporting both CCS and NACS standards. Walmart+ members receive discounted rates, with payment handled through the Walmart app.

Why it matters

The rollout demonstrates how major retailers are building proprietary charging networks at scale, creating a new competitive channel for CPOs and equipment suppliers. Walmart's dual-standard infrastructure and app-based payment model may set procurement expectations for other anchor-tenant deployments.

San Francisco formalises kerbside EV charging programme after April 2025 pilot

Mayor Daniel Lurie has launched San Francisco's Kerbside Electric Vehicle Charging Programme, formalising a pilot that brought the city's first kerbside chargers online in April 2025. The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency is now accepting permit applications under the new programme, which targets residents in multifamily buildings or without private garages. The initiative aligns with the mayor's Climate Action Plan and delivers on legislation introduced by Mayor Lurie and Board of Supervisors President Rafael Mandelman in March.

Why it matters

The programme opens a new permitting route for CPOs and installers to deploy kerbside infrastructure across San Francisco, expanding the addressable market beyond private garages. Formalising the pilot signals municipal commitment and may accelerate procurement cycles for public right of way charging.
