Delhi to convert entire public bus fleet to electric within three years
By Eve
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced during Republic Day celebrations that 100 per cent of the city's public transport buses will become electric within three years, with 11,000 electric buses planned. The government is rapidly building the necessary charging stations and bus depots to support the fleet, as part of a ₹30,000 crore capital expenditure programme.
Why it matters: An 11,000 unit electric bus order represents one of India's largest urban fleet electrification commitments and will require significant depot charging infrastructure, creating immediate procurement opportunities for charging hardware suppliers and depot design contractors.
