A couple from Shellharbour, New South Wales, are four weeks into a 15 week electric vehicle tour of central Australia in a 2022 Tesla Model Y, retracing a honeymoon route taken 43 years earlier in a Holden V8. The journey has covered remote locations including Cobar, Wilcannia, Broken Hill, Coober Pedy and Erldunda, reaching Uluru despite the absence of fast chargers in some areas. The couple had to abandon plans to follow the 600 kilometre Oodnadatta Track due to road closures from abnormally wet weather.
