Amazon and Tata Motors to deploy 3,000 electric trucks across India

By Eve

Amazon and Tata Motors have announced a collaboration to deploy 3,000 electric trucks across Amazon's transportation network in India, marking the largest electric truck deployment by an e-commerce company in the country. The rollout will begin in Delhi during the festive season with Tata Ultra E.7 electric trucks for intra-city freight movement, before expanding to major national highways including the approximately 2,800 kilometre Delhi to Bengaluru to Chennai corridor along National Highway 48. Dedicated charging infrastructure hubs developed in collaboration with Yahhvi will support the expansion.

Why it matters

This deployment represents a significant scaling of electric freight beyond last mile deliveries and will require substantial charging infrastructure investment along major highway corridors. Delhi's 2026 Electric Vehicle Policy, which offers the first 1,000 privately owned medium duty electric trucks exemptions from restricted hours for 10 years, signals growing policy support that could accelerate commercial EV adoption and infrastructure procurement opportunities.

Tata Motors reportedly developing Kuno mid-size electric SUV for 2027 to 2028 launch to rival MG Windsor

According to people familiar with the programme, Tata Motors is developing a ground-up, roughly 4.3-metre mid-size SUV codenamed Kuno, scheduled for introduction in 2027 to 2028 and likely to be built at Sanand in Gujarat. Planned annual production is around 80,000 to 100,000 units, which the report says is a capacity plan and not a first-year sales forecast. The commercial name, final specifications and pricing have not been disclosed, and Tata is preparing capacity additions at Sanand, which includes the former Ford plant.

Why it matters

A further mid-size EV line from Tata, alongside the new-generation Nexon, Curvv and Sierra, points to a larger family-oriented EV parc in India from 2027 to 2028, which could support longer-term charging demand planning. Planned volumes of 80,000 to 100,000 units a year at Sanand suggest the scale of vehicle supply CPOs and site hosts may need to anticipate, though timing and specifications remain unconfirmed.

Tata Motors secures 87.81% of Iveco Group in €3.43 billion takeover, settlement due 30 October 2026

Tata Motors' acquisition vehicle TML CV Holdings has received acceptances for 87.81% of Iveco Group's ordinary share capital, representing 238,157,212 shares for approximately €3.43 billion, making the takeover offer unconditional as of 26 October. Settlement is scheduled for 30 October 2026, after which Tata will hold 89.42% of Iveco excluding treasury shares. The €3.8 billion deal, announced 30 July 2025, covers Iveco's commercial vehicle operations including truck maker Iveco, bus producer Iveco Bus and Heuliez, and powertrain provider FPT Industrial, but excludes the Defence business, creating a combined entity with approximately €22 billion in annual revenues.

Why it matters

The consolidation brings Iveco's European commercial vehicle and powertrain manufacturing under Tata Motors' control, potentially reshaping supply chains and electrification strategies for bus and truck fleets across Europe and India. Procurement teams working with Iveco Bus or FPT Industrial on charging infrastructure projects may see shifts in product roadmaps, pricing structures and regional priorities as integration proceeds.

iCaur SUVs reportedly planned for France in early 2027, according to Frandroid

Frandroid reported on 27 October 2026 that iCaur, a brand linked to Chery, is aiming to launch the V25 and V27 SUVs in France in early 2027, with the V23 following later without a firm date. The V23 would need structural modifications before homologation, which Frandroid does not detail. The timetable comes from the press rather than the manufacturer, powertrains for France are unconfirmed, and nothing in the sources shows any of the models can yet be ordered in France.

Why it matters

A new Chery-linked entrant could add electric or range-extender SUVs to the French parc from 2027, but with no confirmed powertrains or manufacturer commitment, planning on charging demand or fleet supply should treat this as an unverified signal. It is worth tracking as a competitive-map item rather than a firm market input.
