Be.EV commits £1.3 million to install 14 ultra-rapid chargers across three East Midlands retail parks

UK charging network Be.EV will deploy 14 ultra-rapid charging bays at three retail parks in the East Midlands, Northgate Retail Park in Newark, Lakeside Retail Park in Scunthorpe and Panattoni Park in South Normanton, as part of a £1.3 million partnership with Limes Developments Ltd and Limes Estates Ltd. The sites collectively see almost 236,000 cars pass through daily, and the chargers will deliver 165 miles of range per 20 minutes. The investment targets the East Midlands, which has the third lowest rate of EV chargers per 100,000 people in the UK.
Why it matters: The rollout addresses a regional infrastructure gap in a high footfall environment, with Be.EV citing a 2025 survey showing 57% of EV drivers prefer to shop while charging. For CPOs and site hosts, the partnership model demonstrates how retail parks can monetise dwell time and support government transition targets in underserved areas.
