BMW and E.ON launch consumer vehicle to grid offer in Germany with €720 annual payment at €0.40 per kilowatt hour

BMW and E.ON have made their vehicle to grid consumer tariff available in Germany, paying users up to €720 per year (US$850) for battery capacity access while plugged in. The offer requires a BMW Neue Klasse platform EV with 6th generation eDrive technology (starting with the iX3), an 11 kilowatt BMW Wallbox Professional bidirectional charger, an E.ON V2G electricity tariff and a smart meter. BMW states the €720 payment could cover up to 14,000 kilometres of annual EV charging.
Why it matters: The live tariff establishes a commercial template for OEM and utility V2G partnerships in Europe's largest car market, creating a potential revenue model for fleet operators and workplace charging hosts.
