ChargePoint and Eaton to deploy 130 DC fast chargers for Santa Monica's electric bus fleet under $56 million programme

By Eve

ChargePoint and Eaton will supply charging infrastructure for Big Blue Bus, the public transit agency serving Santa Monica and the greater Westside region of Los Angeles County, as part of a $56 million investment in electric transit fleet infrastructure. The project will deploy 130 DC fast charging ports using ChargePoint's Express Plus equipment alongside Eaton's medium voltage switchgear, switchboards and panelboards, supporting the Santa Monica Department of Transportation's goal to operate a fully zero emission fleet by 2032. ChargePoint CEO Rick Wilmer described the deployment as one of the company's largest transit projects to date.

Why it matters

The 130 port order signals sustained demand for high power depot charging at scale and demonstrates how US transit agencies are committing capital to meet zero emission fleet deadlines. For charging suppliers and electrical contractors, the project illustrates the bundled infrastructure scope required to electrify large municipal bus operations.

EVgo shares jump 48% after LS Power offers $2 a share to buy out minority holders

LS Power Equity Advisors has offered $2 a share for the EVgo Class A shares it does not already own, according to MarketScreener, with its affiliates holding 56.8% of voting power. EVgo stock rose 48% in early trading to $1.87, still below the offer price, while ChargePoint gained 10% and Blink Charging 7%. EVgo operates more than 1,200 fast charging locations across 47 states as of October 30, but its Q2 2026 revenue fell 15.7% year over year to $82.65 million and its net loss widened to $46.34 million.

Why it matters

A controlling shareholder move on one of the largest US fast-charging networks could reshape ownership and strategy at a major CPO, though negotiations have barely begun and terms may change. The sympathy lift for ChargePoint and Blink suggests investors see possible consolidation or valuation upside across listed charging operators.

UK home seller reports buyers worried about installing an EV charger on a driveway detached from the house

A UK home seller said on the r/HousingUK subreddit that estate agent feedback after viewings showed potential buyers were concerned they could not fit an EV charger because the driveway is not attached to the property. The Reddit thread, reported by The Cool Down, asked whether home charging could become a standard buying criterion alongside features such as driveways and en suite bathrooms. Several posters said the possibility of installing a charger mattered more than whether one was already in place.

Why it matters

Charger installability is starting to show up as a factor in buyer sentiment, which points to growing demand for solutions where off-plot or detached parking makes a standard home install hard. This is anecdotal evidence from a single forum discussion, but it hints at a gap that on-street, shared and neighbourhood charging providers could address.

Easelink and Luxshare partner to industrialise automated Matrix Charging in China

Austria-based Easelink is working with Luxshare, a precision manufacturing provider operating in 30 countries, to industrialise its Matrix Charging system for the Chinese market, according to a report posted on 2 November 2026 by Charles Morris. Matrix Charging uses a connector on the underside of the vehicle and a ground-mounted charging pad. Through a technology licence, Luxshare can add the system to its automotive portfolio and offer it to OEM customers, and the two firms are already working on OEM projects to integrate it into future vehicle platforms. Easelink plans to expand its local team in China to support the work.

Why it matters

A licensed manufacturing route into Chinese OEM platforms signals that conductive, hands-free charging is moving towards scaled production, which matters for anyone planning autonomous or fleet charging infrastructure. Procurement teams should watch whether vehicle-side connectors and ground pads become specified at platform level, as that would shape future site design and supplier choices.
