BYD to deploy 3,000 flash-charging stations across Europe by March 2027

Chinese EV manufacturer BYD plans to install 3,000 flash-charging stations in Europe by the end of March 2027, part of a 6,000-station global rollout that includes 2,000 sites in the Americas and 1,000 in Asia-Pacific, the company told the South China Morning Post. The stations can deliver over 900 kilometres of range in under 10 minutes for compatible BYD pure electric models. BYD already operates just over 7,000 flash-charging stations in mainland China and aims to expand that to 20,000 by year end.
Why it matters: A vertically integrated OEM building its own high-speed charging network at scale introduces a new competitive dynamic for independent CPOs and multi-brand networks in Europe. Procurement teams will need to assess interoperability, site access terms and whether BYD's proprietary rollout accelerates or fragments the public charging landscape.
