Singapore competition authority reviews SP Mobility's proposed acquisition of ChargEco
By Eve
The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore is seeking public feedback on SP Mobility's proposed takeover of rival EV charging operator ChargEco. SP Mobility currently operates 1,311 charging points and ChargEco 1,077 points out of more than 7,300 total charging points across Singapore, according to Land Transport Authority subsidiary EVe. The two firms have told the regulator the deal would not substantially lessen competition.
Why it matters: The merger would consolidate roughly a third of Singapore's public charging infrastructure under one operator, potentially reshaping procurement dynamics for site hosts and raising questions about market concentration as the city state scales its EV charging network.
