Delhi flags off 200 electric buses, taking city fleet to 6,300 vehicles

By Eve

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched 200 new electric buses on Friday, bringing the capital's total fleet to around 6,300 buses. The government has added approximately 2,184 electric buses since its formation, with more than 4,500 now in service and a target of 7,000 by the end of 2026. The rollout included a new interstate EV bus service between Delhi and Rohtak.

Why it matters: Delhi's accelerating electric bus procurement signals sustained demand for depot charging infrastructure and maintenance contracts across a growing fleet. The 7,000 unit target by 2026 points to further tenders for bus supply and associated charging equipment in one of India's largest urban transport networks.
