Detroit wins $1.5M Toyota Mobility Foundation grant for electric and hydrogen freight pilots at Eastern Market

Detroit has been awarded $1.5 million from the Toyota Mobility Foundation Sustainable Cities Challenge to deploy electric, hydrogen and fast charging freight pilots at Eastern Market, one of the largest food distribution hubs in the United States. The city was selected as one of three global winners from over 250 applicants worldwide, alongside Venice and Varanasi, with the foundation investing $9 million total across the three cities. Three companies will share the Detroit funding: Civilized Cycles, ElectricFish Energy Inc. and Neology, each having already received $180,000 in implementation funding.
