Electra and Mercedes-Benz expand European fast-charging access as Fastned has 70 new stations under construction
By Eve
Dutch Mercedes-Benz drivers will gain access to more than 800 Electra charging stations across Europe, though it is not yet clear whether the partnership will bring benefits at Dutch sites. In the same news roundup, Fastned has 70 new fast-charging stations under construction across Europe, almost twice as many as last year, and has completed 46 new stations so far in 2026. BYD has also installed the first Flash Charger in the Netherlands, at its Hoofddorp head office, with a maximum charging power of 1,500 kW under the right conditions.
Why it matters
Automaker and CPO roaming partnerships are widening network access, while Fastned's near doubling of its build pipeline signals faster competition for prime sites. Operators should also note the activity around grid constraints, with BOVAG holding a 9 December 2026 meeting in Utrecht on fast charging without grid upgrades and Q8 electric adding chargers to an existing petrol station in Mijdrecht.

ChargeZone says India's EV charging should be judged on energy delivered, not charger numbers
Speaking at the Autocar Professional India EV Conclave 2026 in New Delhi, ChargeZone Co-Founder and Director, Strategy, Ravindra Mohan said the sector should be measured by the energy delivered to vehicles rather than chargers installed. He said the company has electrified approximately 45,000 km of highways through around 1,500 of its own charging points, with reported uptime of approximately 98.6%, while acknowledging that grid interruptions can affect customer experience. The discussion also covered high-power charging for commercial vehicles, second-life EV batteries and plans to turn charging stations into energy assets through battery storage and renewable electricity.
Why it matters
A shift from counting chargers to measuring energy delivered and uptime points to performance metrics that tenders and funding decisions may increasingly reward. The focus on storage, renewables and grid resilience also signals where CPOs may need to invest to protect reliability and customer experience.
Bolt.Earth commissions 1.5 MW EV charging station at P Qube Solutions in Vijayawada
Bolt.Earth has commissioned a 1.5 MW charging station at P Qube Solutions in Nunna, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, near the NH-16 Cross. The site has two 240 kW, three 180 kW and one 60 kW DC fast chargers for cars, trucks and buses, plus a 6 kW fast charger for three-wheelers, two 3 kW DC fast chargers for two-wheelers and four 3.3 kW AC sockets. It is intended to serve local demand and intercity EV traffic on the highway corridor.
Why it matters
The site shows a charge point operator partnering with a host to combine heavy-duty, car and light vehicle charging at one location on a highway corridor. Site-operator partnerships are being positioned as the route to expanding charging beyond established urban markets in India.
West Sussex passes 1,000 live public EV charging sockets
West Sussex County Council reports 1,030 live sockets on its Chargepoint Network, delivered with Connected Kerb under a contract signed in November 2021, with first installations starting in mid-2022. Since May 2022 the network has recorded about 77,000 charging sessions from roughly 14,000 users, supplying around 1.79 million kWh. The rollout is facilitated by the Government-funded LEVI Pilot Scheme, with active charge points installed alongside passive underground infrastructure for future additional sockets.
Why it matters
The county shows how an on-street programme for residents without off-street parking can scale through a single delivery partner and LEVI Pilot funding. The passive infrastructure approach and evidence-led site selection offer a reference model for bidders and CPOs planning future expansion.
