ENC wins place on Washington State cooperative transit bus contract spanning diesel to battery electric

By Eve

ENC has secured a position on the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services statewide transit bus contract, covering eight categories across four propulsion types and two vehicle lengths. The awarded configurations include clean diesel, compressed natural gas, diesel electric hybrid and battery electric buses, each available in 35 foot and 40 foot versions. The contract is a FAST Act compliant cooperative purchasing agreement allowing transit agencies in Washington and participating states to procure buses through a centralised framework.

Why it matters

The cooperative contract structure simplifies procurement for multiple transit agencies seeking to electrify fleets, while ENC's inclusion across all propulsion types positions the manufacturer to capture orders as agencies transition from diesel to battery electric. ENC was sold by REV Group to Rivaz for approximately 52 million dollars in late 2024 and restarted production last year.
