Geely EX2 electric hatchback launches in Australia from $26,490, targeting budget EV segment

Chinese automaker Geely will begin selling its EX2 electric hatchback in Australian dealerships later this month, with pricing starting at $26,490 before on-road costs for the Complete variant and $30,990 for the Inspire variant. The launch comes as EVs reached 23.5 per cent of the Australian new car market in June, with seven models exceeding 1,000 monthly sales. Geely's EX5 electric SUV has already sold 6,576 units in Australia year to date, ranking third behind the Tesla Model Y and BYD SeaLion 7.
Why it matters: The sub $27,000 entry price positions the EX2 as one of Australia's cheapest EVs, potentially accelerating mass-market adoption and increasing demand for public and workplace charging infrastructure.
