Geely launches EX5 Ultra with 68kWh battery and 280-mile range at £38,990

Chinese brand Geely will release the EX5 Ultra SUV on 5 May 2025, featuring a 68kWh battery that delivers 280 miles of range, up from 60kWh and 245 miles in the previous Max trim. The new flagship variant adds a 750kg towing capacity and retains the 215bhp motor shared across the EX5 line, with pricing starting at £38,990. Managing director Michael Yang said the upgrade responds to customer and retailer demand for greater range while balancing battery weight against efficiency.
Why it matters: Fleet and charge-point operators tracking mid-market EV adoption gain a data point on battery sizing and range expectations in the £39,000 SUV segment. The rapid product refresh signals competitive pressure in a category where range anxiety remains a barrier to commercial and consumer uptake.
