Gujarat ranks 8th in India with 2,789 EV charging stations as state expands network to tourism sites
By Eve
Gujarat has installed 2,789 EV charging stations, placing it 8th among Indian states as of July 2026, when India's total reached 52,716 stations. Maharashtra leads with 6,985 stations, followed by Karnataka with 6,805. The Gujarat government is expanding charging infrastructure to major tourism destinations including Gir, Somnath, Ambaji and the Statue of Unity, supported by policy incentives and subsidies for consumers and businesses.
Why it matters: The state's targeted rollout to high footfall tourism locations signals procurement opportunities for CPOs in hospitality and destination charging, while Gujarat's policy support framework may accelerate tender activity for public and commercial charging networks.
